Wedding - 29th July 2007 at St Paul's Pro Cathedral, Valletta
I designed and made all the wedding invitations by hand, I planned everything myself as Jon was busy at work but he helped out whenever he could. With only a month to go I had a bad attack of sciatica and could hardly walk for 2 weeks, 2 weeks to go I was back in bed again with the flu!! Friends arrived from the UK and everyone came together for the Hen and Stags nights, thankfully no photos exist!
The night before all my female helpers were cooking up a storm and we created a sumptuous banquet for all the guests which was pulled together on the day by my eldest daughter's boyfriend Paul who is a chef.
We had a civil ceremony in Valletta at 3pm for family only, then to St Paul's Pro Cathedral for a beautiful church service for the remaining guests. We didn't exactly fill the church with guests but those who were there made the day special. Then back to Jon's parents for the reception - a true English style reception.
The day went so very fast, one minute I was awake a 5am and putting the washing in the machine and having a general tidy up and then, as is the tradition in the UK, we were in our transport to the hotel which was covered in ribbons, tin cans off the exhaust, lipstick hearts and 'just married' drawn all over the windows with all of our guests seeing us off from the Penthouse terrace, loads of faces peering down and cheering us as we drove off up the road with the tin cans making an awful but joyous noise.
I'd like to get married every year - to Jon of course - it's such a wonderful day, a day on which everyone is smiling and happy even the on-lookers so it's a day that deserves to be repeated, and with family and friends like ours the 29th July 2008 will be just as wonderful!
