Denise and Kevin were the winners of one of our competitions where they won an unforgettable  honeymoon in a Sandals resort in Jamaica, sponsored by P&A Sullivan Ltd.

They got married on the 30th of September 2007, and on the 4th of October they left for their 15-day honeymoon in Jamaica.

Honeymoon period:

4th - 15th October 2007

Countries visited:

Jamaica

Any inoculations required?

Since we were staying in a resort we did not need any inoculations.  However, if going there for a more adventourous trip Hepatitis A and B inoculations are commonly advisable.

Trip details:
We spent 15 nights in all at two different Sandals resorts.  We took different excursions to get ourselves into Jamaican way of life.  We enjoyed the sun and the Jamaican people mostly.

Reason for choosing this destination:
We won the 7 nights accomodation at a Sandals Resort of our choice thanks to TheWeddingSite.com and sponsored by P&A Sullivan Ltd.  Hence our choice of Sandals.

Being in the Caribbean we tought the most exciting and appealing island for our tastes was Jamaica. Even because we had freinds who already went there and enjoyed it alot.

How was the weather?

Hot hot hot :)  Most of the time. There is even more humidity than Malta but we still enjoyed it.  At times there was what they called 'liquid sunshine' which mainly consisted of an hour of rain with blue skies.  It was never cold, not even at night.

Where have you stayed?
We stayed 7 nights at Sandals Grande Ocho Rios and then another 7 nights at Sandals Dunn's River Villaggio.

What did you do?

Every night we had what the Italians call ' l'imbarazzo della scelta ' in choosing a restaurant where to eat at the resort itself.  This was true also for breakfast and lunch but mostly we skipped lunch because we had too much food around and actually we preferred taking on an excursion or activity.

We went on various excursions such as horse back riding and swimming, Blue Mountain Bike ride, Dunn's River Falls, Island Vilage shopping trip, Bob Marley's tour and even Deep sea fishing.

We took excursions every other day so that we could also spend as much time relaxing at the resort itself.  We took part in various activities organised by the resort entertainment team such as treasure hunts etc. and tried our luck at most of the sports which were available including water sports and snorkeling.

The best parts?
The whole 15 days were just a dream... people greeting you and treating you as if you are king and queen... the wonderful nature and weather... the fun in all the things we did!!

For me the best part was the Horse riding because I just love horses and it was so much fun riding them in the sea.

But the best thing about the island was that ALL the people, young and old, had this intruiging sense of humour which burst us into big laughs and great fun everytime we spent time with the locals.

Any regrets?

That we were not able to stay there for longer and see more of the island itself and the nature it has to offer.  Plus the fact that we were not able to take an excursion to visit Kingston - Jamaica's capital city.  Then our only regret back in Malta was that we had put on considerable weight after all that eating and drinking :)

Any suggestions you would like to pass on to other couples visiting the same destination?

Jamaica is just a great place to be.  People are warm and funny.  When you go there just enjoy yourself and breathe into your system their laid back attitude. When greeting a Jamaican just say "Yeah Mon" ... and "No Problem" is the phrase of the year there!

What's the suggested budget for a similar trip?

Lm 2,000 plus speding money.

Other comments?

Thanks to TheWeddingSite.com for this opportunity of a dream honeymoon.  It was true that Sandals in Jamaica gave wings to our most romantic dreams! :)
