Any
inoculations required?
|
Yes
a lot. We needed vaccinations for polio, thyphoid,
etc. It would be ideal to go to the immunisation
centre in Floriana Health Centre and ask for more details
there.
|
|
Trip
details:
|
We
enjoyed our honeymoon very much. We needed to relax
after all the wedding preparations. We had lots of fun
and learnt a lot.
|
|
Reason
for choosing this destination:
|
We
wanted to go somewhere different (not in Europe) to
see different cultures. South East Asia is amazing
and the people are really friendly.
|
|
How
was the weather?
|
The
weather was quite hot and it was humid. However in shopping
centres and restaurants the airconditioning is
on 'cool' most of the time.
An
advantage about the weather is that we came back home
with a lovely tan!!
|
|
Where
have you stayed?
|
We
stayed variety of hotels ranging from 4 to 5 star hotels.
We found very good prices for hotels over the
internet. In fact we booked all our hotels, long
distance train trip and flights (within Asia) from the
internet apart from Dubai which was booked at a local
travel agency.
|
|
What
did you do?
|
Thailand
Sight
seeing - lots of temples and Buddhas everywhere. In
Bangkok we went to Dreamworld (funpark), night bazaar, etc.
We went to the floating market, Jim Thompson house,
Lumpini park, Chao Praya river and lots more. We also
visited the hilltribes in Chiang Rai and went on a boat
trip to Laos, Burma, Thailand (Golden Triangle). We
watched snake and crocodile shows and went on the "tuktuk"
in Chiang Mai.
Malaysia
Shopping
and sight seeing - Petronas Twin Towers, KL Tower, China
Town (We were here when the Tsunami occured luckily
we weren't involved in it.)
Singapore
Shopping,
parks and very good food!
Dubai
Shopping
centres. We had afternoon tea at Burja Al Arab (7-star
hotel) which has an amazing view.
|
| The
best parts?
|
We
escaped the Tsunami since we were planning to go to
the islands but then at the last minute decided not
to.
We
enjoyed learning about different cultures and what amazed
me was how devoted asian people are to their Buddhas.
|
| The
biggest regrets?
|
Coming
back home maybe!! :)
It
was just perfect and it couldn't be better!
|
| Any
suggestions/warnings you would like to pass on to
couples visiting the same destination?
|
If
you have never been to South East Asia, it would be
ideal to go there since its an opportunity to see different
cultures and admire the local hand crafts (bring some
back home since they are really cheap and beautiful).
It
is important though, to avoid eating from street vendors
and always drink bottled water.
|
| What's
the suggested budget for a similar trip?
|
Lm
3000 - 4000, but could be cheaper if staying in budget
hotels and limiting the shopping :P
|
| Any
other comments?
|
Prices
in south east Asia are very cheap compared to Europe
and it is important to bargain with the vendor since
they are acutally expecting you to bargain.
You
can expect to get 30-50% off the original price when
you bargain.
