3 weeks before:

Post the local invitations, although in Malta it is still the tradition to deliver them by hand.  Allow plenty of time if you intend to make home visits.

Give address details and timings to the wedding car hire company.

Discuss your choice of music with the musician.

Buy gifts for your partner, bridesmaids, ushers, etc.

Order appetisers and drinks for guests visiting you in the coming days.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2 weeks before:

Organise the delivery of the drinks to the reception venue.

Prepare and conduct the church rehearsal with your celebrant.

Collect the marriage documents from the Marriage Registry.

Collect honeymoontrip tickets.  Confirm you have all the necessary travelling documents, including foreign money and any Traveller's Cheques.

Purchase a guest book and a nice pen.

Contact your insurance agency to discuss any necessary amendements that need to be done to your life, car and other insurance policies, to list your partner as the beneficiary.

Consider extending your home insurance to cover your wedding gifts.

Open joint bank accounts and decide on a budget and savings program.

Go out for the hen and bachelor parties.  Hve fun, but in a safe way!

Start the necessary preparations to welcome guests at home.

Get Form E 111 if you are travelling in the EU.  With this form you will have the same rights of the local citizens in case you will need to be admitted in hosital while being abroad.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1 week before:

Confirm any remaining contracts.

Collect all dresses.

Appoint a person to deliver any excess food after your wedding to a charitable institution.  Why waste?!

Pack your suitcases for your honeymoon.  Remember; do not pack any scissors or sharp objects in your hand luggage.  It is a precaution against terrorism.  It is advisable to pack a change of clothes in your hand luggage, just in case you are so unlucky to have your luggage lost in transit or delayed.

Leave a copy of your honeymoon itinerary with a relative in case of an emergency.

Brides: Any waxing that needs to be done?

Try to find time to visit a health spa together with your partner to relax.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The day before:

Pack the "Wedding Day Emergency Kit" and hand it over to your maid of honour or bridesmaid.  Click here to find out what to include in this kit.

Try to find a quite moment to give your partner his/her gift.

Find time to say a big thank you to your parents for all they have given you, be it moral or financial support.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Wedding Day:

Have a nice relaxed breakfast.  Hopefully by now you have delegated everything that needs to be done.

Confirm the delivery of drinks, the going-away outfits, guest book and pen, engagement photo and other items to the reception venue.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Congratulations!  

 

Just make sure you enjoy your wedding to the full and

 

remember not to pressure yourselves to entertain your guests!

The days after:

Take wedding gown and veil to be cleaned at an experienced laundry.  If you intend to sell your gown, or any other wedding items, place an advert in our Classified Section for free!

Take the bridal bouquet for preservation.  This must be taken soon after the wedding.

Make sure all vendors have been paid in full. 

Take off on your honeymoon and enjoy it!  You deserve it!

Freeze the top layer of the wedding cake to be eaten on your first anniversary.

Check out when to expect delivery of your wedding photographs, video or dvd.

Within two months find time to write and send all the 'Thank You' notes if not already done so.

Within three months apply to claim back the VAT paid on your wedding services.  Click here for more info.
