Trip
details:
|
The
trip was fantastic and even though the weather was cold,
we simply geared up on clothes and went out discovering
every day.
We
traveled independently from a travel agent, therefore
we made our research well, and knew beforehand the places
we wanted to visit. The culture, museums and the elegance
of the people of Vienna was out of this world.
We
immediately noticed the difference when we arrived in
Prague by train. Prague was beautiful too, but obviously
less wealthy than Vienna. The people are more reserved
too, and we did have some funny moments when we could
find no-one to communicate in English too.
All
in all it was a very interesting experience, and next
time we also plan to travel on our own.
|
|
Reason
for choosing this destination:
|
We
had actually booked a cruise in the first place, but
then with the disasters which had happened in the Caribbean,
we decided to go somewhere less exotic.
Vienna
and Prague immediately sprang to mind, and very much
referred to us by our friends and whoever had been there.
|
|
How
was the weather?
|
The
weather was freezing in October there, and I immediately
set to remedying that by going shopping ... much to
the detriment of my husband :)
|
|
Where
have you stayed?
|
We
stayed in Hotels in both countries.
|
|
What
did you do?
|
We
mostly visited cultural places, but even walking in
the streets was enough.
We
obviously shopped, especially in Vienna, where the department
stores are amazing and we also went to lots of open
air markets.
|
| The
best parts?
|
The
best part was in Vienna, where we went to the Emperor's
castle, which is enormous, and we spent the whole day
there. the elegance of this castle is terrific, and
the surrounding gardens and zoo was amazing.
We
were run of our feet.
|
| The
biggest regrets?
|
No
regrets whatsoever
|
| Any
suggestions/warnings you would like to pass on to
couples visiting the same destination?
|
Well,
the only difficulty we had was the language mostly,
since I only know a couple of words in German.
Familiarity
with the language and maybe buying a dictionary
could help.
|
| What's
the suggested budget for a similar trip?
|
Our
trip cost approx Lm1200
|
| Any
other comments?
|
I
hate traveling with travel agents who have the itinerary
ready for you, what time to get up, what time to have
breakfast etc.
I
would advise anyone to think twice, and that traveling
on one's own is twice the fun. Obviously doing research
before hand and having a map handy is ideal.
