Marcelle
and Kenneth
Engagement
Date: September 2004
Wedding
Date: 17th September 2006
I
felt from the start that Kenneth was the one for me,
but I didn't realise it until some time into our relationship.
We met 8 years ago (1997) in Paceville; I
was just out of a bad relationship and so was he. We
continued meeting for the next couple of days through
friends and occasionally bumping into each other.
I
finally got to know that he likes to go out on Wednesdays,
so I obviously prepared myself to go out and 'bump'
into him. After waiting for around three hours
with no sign of Kenneth, I turned to my friend and told
her that I was going to give up on this guy as it was
not worth it. Then he finally arrived, but I had
already made up my mind to leave.
On
my way out I smiled at him and asked if he wanted anything
to eat as I was going to get something to eat for myself.
He said no. I said to myself that this would
be the last time I saw this guy. As soon as I
turned round, he grabbed my hand and said "Let
me come with you". My heart missed a beat
and I was so excited.
We
went for a burger and spent till 5.00am chatting about
everything under the sun. I remember that it rained
heavily that night and for us it was good luck because,
before I left for home, he took out a piece of paper
and gave me his telephone number, asking me to call
him.
The
following day, I have no idea how many times I picked
up the phone and put it back down again, or dialled
the first two numbers and changed my mind. Finally,
I plucked up the courage and gave him a call in the
afternoon and we met for a coffee in Qawra.
Whilst
we were there, Kenneth said something to me which I
will never forget for the rest of my life. After
knowing me for only two days, he turned round to
me and said, "I can imagine you as the mother of
my children". It was the nicest thing anyone
had ever said to me.
We
started dating and have been together ever since. We
have had our ups and downs and even broken up a few
times, but our love is very strong. Kenneth is
not the romantic type, well at least that is what I
thought until last September (2004). We decided
to go for a small holiday in Paris to celebrate our
anniversary.
On
the first day there, Kenneth insisted we go on the Eiffel
Tower. I did want to go, but I could not understand
the urgency to go on our first night in this magical
city. We went up and as soon as we arrived at
the top and I was taking pictures of the scenery Kenneth
asked me to sit down and rest a bit. We did and
he asked me if I knew how much he loved me. I
knew he did, but sometimes he didn't show it, that was
my reply.
All
of a sudden, he takes out a small box from his jacket
and opens it. I was absolutely speechless. He
was proposing on the Eiffel Tower in the most romantic
city in the world!
I
just burst out crying and between one sob and another
I said "YES, I'll marry you". It was
simply the best day of my life and it is something that
will remain in my heart forever.
We
are planning on getting married in September 2006, on
our anniversary, and with regards to the honeymoon there
is no better place for us than PARIS!
