I
had known Mark for a couple of weeks by sight, but never
really spoken to him. Thus, I had no idea what his interests
were and the fact that he could be rather a mysterious
character.
One
passion of his, though, really stood out and was obviously
something very dear to Mark. This was his Polaris
4 wheeler. I would often see him running around
with it along the Sliema sea front, near where I worked
as a part-time waitress.
In
the afternoon of the 6th June 2004 I met him in
at Cara's and he told me to join his friend and him
for a beer. When we were alone for a moment I
plucked up the courage to ask him for a ride. He
gave me his mobile number and agreed to call for me
after work.
The
short ride I asked for turned out to be a ride all the
way to his house in Paola, where to my shock he asked
me to come in and meet his parents - in a filthy uniform
at 11.30pm!
After
he changed, he took me home to change too and we went
down to Paceville for a couple of drinks.
Since
then things have been going well between us. We have
now bought a place in Birzebbugia and plan on getting
engaged on the 2nd anniversary of our first date!
