  • Buy any special lingerie in time for the fitting of the gown.
  • Make any alterations to the bride’s gown, bridesmaids’ and flower girl dresses.
  • Buy any jewellery (earrings, necklace, etc.) and remaining accessories to be worn on your day.
  • Confirm your honeymoon flights, accommodation and other bookings.
  • Confirm the validity of your passports. Take photocopies just in case you loose your passports whilst abroad.
  • Confirm the final number of guests and finalise the menu with your caterer.
  • Start confirming all other arrangements and contracts.
  • Plan the reception seating if you are having a sit-down meal.
  • Contact the respective police stations and local councils for any parking or other special permits you might require, for example, to access Mdina with a car.
  • If you are travelling within the EU, apply for the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Application forms may be obtained either from the Local Councils, from the Ex-Outpatients Block, St. Luke’s Hospital, G’Mangia or online from www.health.gov.mt . For more info call (+356) 2595 2400.

  • Contact the Marriage Registry to collect your wedding documents.
  • Collect your honeymoon tickets and thoroughly check that your details are correct.
  • Make sure you have all the necessary travel documents, insurance policies and foreign money.
  • Purchase a guest book and a nice pen.
  • Organise delivery of the drinks to the reception venue.
  • Do a church rehearsal with your celebrant.
  • Go out for the hen and bachelor parties. Have fun, but in a safe way!
  • Start the necessary preparations to welcome guests at home.


1 Week Before:

 

  • Confirm any remaining contracts.
  • Collect all dresses and outfits.
  • Confirm that all the wedding participants know their respective duties.
  • Appoint a person to deliver any excess food after your wedding to a charitable institution.
  • Start packing suitcases for your honeymoon. Remember that your hand luggage cannot contain any sharp objects such as scissors and knives. Drinks and liquid-based containers are limited to 100ml each and must be placed in a re-sealable transparent bag not exceeding 1 litre.
  • It is advisable to pack a change of clothes in your hand luggage, just in case your suitcase is lost in transit or delayed.
  • Prepare the ‘Wedding Day Emergency Kit’ and hand it over to your maid of honour or bridesmaid.  Read ‘Wedding Day Emergency Kit’.
  • Brides: Any waxing that needs to be done?
  • Try to find time to visit a health spa together with your partner to relax.


The Day Before:

 

  • Leave a copy of your honeymoon itinerary including hotel details, flight numbers, etc. with your family in case of an emergency.
  • Try to find a quiet moment to give your partner his / her gift.
  • Find time to thank your family for all they have given you, be it moral or financial support. Say your goodbyes quietly and peacefully.

The Days After:

  • Take the wedding gown and veil to be cleaned at an experienced laundry.
  • Soon after the wedding take the bridal bouquet for preservation.
  • Make sure all vendors have been paid in full.
  • Take off on your honeymoon and enjoy it!  You deserve it!


The Months After:

  • Within two months find time to send the ‘Thank you’ notes if not already done so.
